
The Muscoda Mudcasts Home Talent Baseball team lost the home opener 8-3 on Sunday at Pickering Park. Belleville gradually built a lead through the afternoon.
They broke away from a 3-1 lead with 2 runs in 7th and 3 runs in the 8th. The Mudcats scored a single run in the 3rd and 2 runs in the 8th.
The leading hitters in the game for Belleville were Riley Donahue, Logan Ludlum, and Brayson Jelle who each were 3 for 4. Steffen Mello was the winning pitcher after working the first 7 innings and striking out 8 while walking one and giving up 5 hits.
For Muscoda, Mason Atkins worked the first 6 innings from the mound and he struck out 7 while walking 3, Logan Kagel struck out 3 and walked 2 in 3 innings of relief.
Muscodas leading hitters were Ethan Scheckler, Logan Kagel, and Trent Forehand as they all had 2 hits.Following the 8-3 win, Belleville is now 2-0 on the season.
Muscoda fell to 0-2 with a double header scheduled for this Sunday starting at noon.
