Snowmobiler Goes Through Ice – Man Rescued

The Oneida County Sheriff’s  dept responded for a reported man laying on the ice near open water Saturday afternoon around 230pm. The location was the bridge on Cty W near Birchwood Dr. Sheriff deputies along with some firefighters were able to assist the individual by tossing a rope to him prior to members suiting up in cold water rescue suits. Officer stood by in cold water suits until everyone was off the ice. The man was on his snowmobile when the ice broke and went into the water. Once the man was on shore, the medics quickly got him inside their Ambulance to remove the wet clothing and apply heat packs and warming blankets.

Firefighters were on scene for approximately 45 minutes. Rescue 1 and Engine 2 responded to this call.
